In an
effort to keep computer waste out of landfills the Iowa Lakes
Resource Conservation & Development (RC&D) created a computer
recycling program in 2005. Computers can be delivered to our
Spencer location. There is no charge for Pentium IV CPUs and
greater in working order. These Pentium IVs and greater are then
refurbished for donation to non-profits or resale for a very
reasonable price. The computer sales help the non-profit RC&D board
subsidize the recycling program. All other computer waste is
processed through various recyclers. Each year between 15 and 30
tons of computer waste is recycled through this program. If you are
interested in using the computer recycling program contact the Iowa
Lakes RC&D office at 712-262-2083 or iowalakesrcd@iowalakesrcd.org.
