Reconnaissance Survey:
Recently, the West Bend Historical Society received a Palo Alto County Gaming Development Corporation grant to conduct a reconnaissance survey of Palo Alto County’s historic resources.  The West Bend Historical Society has hired Sheriffa Jones to carry out the grant. 

The grant will involve two phases. Phase one will involve surveying the communities in Palo Alto County; phase two the agricultural and rural properties.  A partnership has been established to complete this component.  Partners include: Iowa Lakes RC&D, Iowa State University Palo Alto County Extension, and the USDA/FSA.

Upon completion, the information will enable a better understanding of current historic resources in Palo Alto County.
