City of Emmetsburg, CDBG Application
The City of Emmetsburg is applying for Community Development Block Grant funds to the Iowa Department of Economic Development for downtown facade improvements.  At this time, RPP is providing general education regarding historic preservation and meeting with business owners on a one on one basis to help the property owners better understand the process.  Look for an update as this project gets underway.

Reconnaissance Survey:
In 2008, the West Bend Historical Society received a Palo Alto County Gaming Development Corporation grant to conduct a reconnaissance survey of Palo Alto County’s historic resources.  The West Bend Historical Society hired Sheriffa Jones to carry out the grant. 

The grant involved two phases. Phase one was surveying the communities in Palo Alto County; phase two was the agricultural and rural properties survey.  Additionally, a partnership was established to complete this component--partners included: Iowa Lakes RC&D, Iowa State University Palo Alto County Extension, Palo Alto County Assessor and the USDA/FSA.
